The Fallen Adam and the New Life Through Christ

My memory is nearly gone, but I remember two things; That I am a great sinner, and that Christ is a great Saviour- John Newton

The hymn writer John Newton once said , “amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me”, and yes I have to agree with that as we are all Adam’s seed, born in sin but now redeemed by the blood of the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ. Even the Apostle Paul acknowledged his sinfulness as he considered himself as the chiefest among all sinners;

This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. (1 Timothy 1:15).

Another Pastor that became a blessing to me, Pastor Paul Washer once said, “My Jesus saved me from my sin, and I have no other secret in living a life for the cost of Christ but my sin alone, knowing that Jesus saved me, that’s enough reason to give Him my all” (paraphrased).

Hearing these words from the great men of God one thing I realized through God’s wisdom, that you cannot be a Christian if you will not acknowledge your sin and believed that Jesus Christ is our only hope.

“1 Timothy 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;”

But I have to remind you that confession of mouth that Jesus is Lord is not enough (Matthew 15:7-8), for the Bible says that only the Lord and His word can saved a man from his fallen state, from sin, just like what Ezekiel 37:4 is talking about

“Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. Ezekiel 37:4 ”

Only the Lord Jesus Christ is our hope, the only truth and life;

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6”

Now, every Christian is aware of how sinful we are, because that’s what the Bible says so, that we are the seed of Adam, and now became a member of God’s family through His only begotten Son the Lord Jesus Christ, for the Bible says

“7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:7-8

You see? If you will not acknowledge God’s Son and your sin, therefore you are just living a life of deceitfulness and hypocrisy which can be dangerous, for once again the Bible warns us to examine our heart if we are truly saved or not.

“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 2 Corinthians 13:5 “

But God is faithful and just not to forgive us, to cleanse us from our unrighteousness as He sent His Son to save us from our sin, as the heart of the gospel says:

“16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16”

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.1 John 1:9”

Yes God is love and He forgive sin, but let me warn you this, you cannot be a Christian if you will not stop sinning as God is angry everyday to those who walk in darkness, in immorality, in sinfulness and all kinds of wickedness.

“God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. Psalm 7:11”

So your asking now, why God is angry with the wicked? With sin? The answer is this, because that’s what His word says so, He is a Holy,holy,holy God (Isaiah 6:3) who cannot tolerate sin. Of all the attributes of God, it’s His holiness that is the most essential of all, for that is who God is, He is “holy,holy,holy”.

Now I hope this simple message from the word of God will remind us all about our sin and God’s love for us. If you truly believed that you are a Christian, then walk in perfection just as our Father is perfect in heaven.

“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:48 ”
